Terms of use.

These terms cover two things: using this website, and running the Semurg software on hardware you control.

Licence to run it

• A single node is free, self-hosted, with no time limit and no phone-home. Use it for evaluation, for internal work, or in production, on hardware you control.
• Multi-node clusters need a signed licence. Licences are issued per organisation and verified offline on your node against a signed key. Ask us and we will issue one.
• Do not redistribute the engine. You may not resell, sublicense, rehost as a service, or redistribute the binaries or the installer to third parties without written permission. Running it for your own organisation, including for your own customers' data, is exactly what it is for.
• Do not reverse-engineer the engine or attempt to remove or defeat the licence check.
• The client SDKs shipped in clients.tar.gz are open for you to read and adapt for your own integration work.

The numbers on this site

Every figure we publish is our own measurement on our own reference hardware, and the method is published alongside it so you can reproduce it. Performance depends on your CPU, disks, memory and workload, so your numbers will differ: that is why we ship the kit rather than asking you to trust a chart. Anything not yet live is marked as not yet live.

We do not publish figures for other vendors' products as if they were their best case. Where we compare, we say what we ran, on what data, on what box.

Warranty and liability

The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You are responsible for how you deploy it, for your own backups, and for the security of the hardware and network you run it on.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Semurg is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from use of the software or this website.

The honest caveat, stated plainly: parts of the system are explicitly marked as still building, and the cluster admin surface has not yet had a dedicated penetration test. We say so on the pages themselves. Weigh that before putting any of it in front of hostile traffic.

Acceptable use of this website

Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to this site, the download endpoints, or any Semurg-operated host. Automated scraping that degrades service for others is not acceptable use. Security research is welcome: tell us first at semurg@semurg.org and we will work with you.
